For more hate mail, read the letters to the editor segments of our monthly newsletters, and visit our guestbook, as well as the forum.

Naturally, we would want to be recognized for our efforts to enact conservative reforms in government and greater society and welcome any criticism that would be levied our way. Yet, some people believe that less tact is best. Take "liberalamerican," a member of the Brighton* Democrats who is the poster child for why educational reform is desperately needed in this country. Dan as he would later call himself, became so incensed after seeing our website, he repeatedly sent venomous e-mails to our Editor, Emil Levitin, over several weeks. Apparently, his lack of basic English grammar or spelling did not deter him. Some of the highlights include:

"hello again emil levitin. i really can find out everyting even you cute staff mailing list. You and your fellow kkk rednecks wont never prevail.dont worry all your writings will not be forgotten. i wish you fun getting worse grades than your fascist dictator next year. I like your new name by the way. liberalism will prevail"

"I hate u filthy rednecks! u almost got me boooted from yahoo.this will not be unpaid. im gonna tel u entire list your name. if u bloc me ill write de globe about yah - dan the lib"

"i bet u always wanted ta no the name of u editor. guss wat i now! emil levitin a damn redneck fasist mussolinist hitlarst pol potist anarchist communist socialist racict and kkk supporter.and he has a poblem wit de public scholls an i gonna tell em all about his damn polics . Cant wat till he gat wors grads then has fadist dactaper bush. Ma liberalism perwail"

"all this time i didn't tell you. i am one of the ranking members of a democratic organization in massachusetts that protests new conservative organizations so that they don't get a glimpse of positive press coverage. so here you go. your next. i know your going to have media attention soon, i'll be committed to not make it positive. "

"hey I know who you are. ha ha your a big fan of IP blocking i see. well that's no problem everybody knows about you anyways. how interesting that an 11-year-old is a conservative redneck. i can imagine you probably have a past time of burning black people. go to alabama and join the kkk, that's where you belong."

"may you go to hell. by the ways i live in india ha ha ha. try to block my indian yahoo address from getting into your site."

Isn't it amazing how Dan can both live in India and be active in silencing Republican reform groups in Massachusetts? He is sure a Renaissance Man. All jokes aside, I couldn't help but at least try to educate Dan on African-American History in relation to today's big two parties. I e-mailed the following response:

Dan,

You are as ignorant as the claims you make. My name is Gerard, a proud member of the "Right-wing attack machine" and yes, I'm Black. So, I have a unique perspective of the charges you raise in your e-mail.

Founded by abolitionists, the Republican Party has had a 150 year history of fighting for Civil Rights. In contrast, the Democratic Party's active opposition to Civil Rights gave rise to the Ku Klux Klan, Black Codes, Jim Crow Laws and other repressive legislation which resulted in the multitude of murders, lynchings, mutilations, and intimidations (of thousands of black and white Republicans). On the issue of slavery, Democrats gave their lives to expand it while the Republicans gave their lives to ban
it.

While Democrats were busy passing laws to hurt blacks, Republicans devoted their time to passing laws to help blacks. Republicans were primarily responsible for the following Civil Rights legislation:

1. The Emancipation Proclamation
2. The 13th Amendment
3. The 14th Amendment
4. The 15th Amendment
5. The Reconstruction Act of 1867
6. The Civil Rights of 1866
7. The Enforcement Act of 1870
8. The Forced Act of 1871
9. The Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871
10. The Civil Rights Act of 1875
11. The Freeman Bureau
12. The Civil Rights Act of 1957
13. The Civil Rights Act of 1960
14. The United States Civil Rights Commission

They also gave strong bi-partisan support and sponsorship for the
following legislation

15. The Civil Rights Act of 1964
17. The Voting Rights Act of 1965
18. The 1968 Civil Rights Acts
19. The Equal Opportunity Act of 1972
20. Goals and Timetables for Affirmative Action Programs
21. Comprehensive Employment Training Act of 1973
22. Voting Rights Act of Amendment of 1982
23. Civil Rights Act of 1983
24. Federal Contract Compliance and Workforce Development Act of 1988

The Democrats opposed all of the above and to this day refuse to acknowledge their shameful past. Your charges of racism against [our Editor] are unwarranted, unsupported, and downright foolish. History speaks for itself. Labels have changed, but Republican Party ideals have not. As noted writer Thomas Sowell once said, "If you have always believed that everyone should play by the same rules and be judged by the same standards, that would have gotten you labeled a radical 50 years ago, a liberal 25 years ago, and a racist today."

If you have anything else to say, I'll be more than happy to educate you.

-The Webmaster

Ultimately, the e-mails ended with a message that was presumably sent from the Brighton Democrats as a whole, but again, they missed the point:

To whom it may concern, the Protest Republican Voices organization has terminated its activities and you will not receive e-mails from our organization as of our knowledge. We apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused you and will not disturb you again.

Due to the fact that the editor is 11 years old we condemn the actions taken by the members of our organizations as suggested in numerous e-mails against him and assure you that the members did this without our knowledge.

Sincerely,
Brighton Democrats

First, we applaud the Brighton Democrats initiative in condemning these e-mails. The individual or individuals who wrote them is a poor representative of their group and should be able to disagree with us in a more thoughtful manner rather than setting up websites and sending e-mails designed to smear and intimidate us. However, what concerns us is that they are stopping their actions merely because of Emil's age, not because they thought that their methods and actions were wrong. So, if our Emil were let's say, 20, then sending childish e-mails and trying to spread misinformation about us would be fair game? In rereading the e-mail above, what the Brighton Dems are really saying that what they did was ok as long as the Editor is of age!

So, once again, the Dems have a soft spot for kids. I have to hand it to liberals. They'll do anything for the children (including aborting them :))
